Our Story
Knife River Customs is a humble Minnesota workshop where steel meets soul, and function shakes hands firmly with beauty. We craft handmade knives that are as dependable in the field as they are handsome on the table—tools meant to be used, admired, and passed down.
We’ve got a particular fondness for Damascus steel, with its rippling patterns that tell stories in every layer, paired with carefully selected hardwoods sourced from across the globe. Each knife is made by hand, with intention and grit, using honest materials—wood, steel, and alloys—because that’s where true craftsmanship lives.
Whether you’re choosing from our ready-made collection or dreaming up a custom knife of your own, we’re always eager to talk shop. If you’ve got an idea rattling around in your head, we’d be honored to help you turn it into something tangible, something lasting.
NICK
Maker. Dreamer. Occasional sawdust enthusiast.
I’ve always been drawn to things that make a person stop and lean in a little closer—objects with character, with a story that reveals itself over time. That curiosity led me to study art and design, but it was working with my hands—shaping wood, forging steel, building something real—that stuck with me.
There’s something deeply satisfying about creating with natural materials. Wood, metal, and stone don’t lie. They demand patience, respect, and a willingness to learn. In return, they offer up some of the finest craftsmanship a person can hope to achieve.
Knives, at their core, are tools—ancient, reliable, and necessary. Humanity has relied on them for thousands of years, and that’s not changing anytime soon. So why settle for ordinary? A knife can do its job well and still be a thing of beauty. It can serve a purpose and tell a story.
That’s what we aim to make here: knives that work hard, look good doing it, and earn their place in your hand for years to come.
