Wolf Moon 6" Hand-made Chef Knife, W-2 Steel

Friends, some knives are polite. This one is not. Oxblood is a hand-forged chef knife with a dark, deliberate attitude, and it's built for people who actually cook and have no interest in a drawer ornament.

The blade is W-2 high-carbon steel, a classic that takes a keen edge and returns to it with a few passes on a stone. It has a forced patina, which means the blade was aged on purpose, so you get a weathered, seasoned finish from day one. Think of a cast iron skillet that has already been loved for thirty years, only here you didn't have to wait.

The handle is bloodwood burl, and the name does it justice. Burl is what a tree produces when it decides straight grain is for other trees, and bloodwood brings a rich red that deepens with use. The swirling grain is unpredictable, so no other knife will have this handle.

At 6" of blade and 10.5" overall, it's nimble enough for slicing, dicing, trimming, and herbs, and it has enough presence that you'll reach for it first.

Specifications

  • Steel: W-2 high-carbon

  • Finish: forced patina

  • Blade length: 6"

  • Overall length: 10.5"

  • Handle: bloodwood burl

  • Handmade in Minnesota

Care
W-2 is a carbon steel, so the patina will keep evolving with use. That's normal, and it's the knife getting better, not worse. Hand wash it, dry it right away, and wipe on a little food-safe oil now and then. Keep it out of the dishwasher, always.

Because every knife is handmade, you'll receive the exact knife shown in the photos.
